Safina VS Cibulkova " Rogers Cup final "

Dinara Safina reached her third WTA title of the year with a 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 win over Victoria Azarenka in the Rogers Cup semifinals Saturday. Dominika Cibulkova continued her surprising play, upending 10th-seeded Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, in a rain-delayed semifinal at the Rogers Cup on Saturday.

The unseeded Cibulkova has been a giant-killer this week, upsetting world No. 2 Jelena Jankovic, sixth-ranked Elena Dementieva and No. 12 seed Nadia Petrova en route to the semis. This is Cibulkova’s second final. Her other final appearance came this season at Amelia Island, where she lost to Maria Sharapova.

Safina is the younger sister of former ATP No. 1 Marat Safin, but the Russian has succeeded in creating her own identity this season and eventually could find herself atop the WTA rankings. Cibulkova's appearance in the final assures she will be in the top 20 when the next rankings come out Monday, which is a long way from her No. 156 ranking at the end of 2006. In the only uninterrupted match of the day, the un-seeded doubles of team of Russian Maria Kirilenko and Italy's Flavia Pennetta upset the second-seeded tandem Austrian Rennae Stubbs and Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-0.
